Police have arrested a 27-year-old man for allegedly being behind the murder and abduction of a 17-year-old student.


The form four student who was schooling at Kibera High school was kidnapped on Monday, October 4 while she was traveling for the burial of her grandmother.

The police probing the death and disappearance of Cyntia Makokha were alarmed after the deceased facebook timeline was updated with a picture of John Odinga.

The suspect, John Odinga who resides at Emanyasa have been reported to have uploaded his picture on Cynthia's timeline using her mobile phone.

Police traced the culprit using the deceased phone. Odinga is now apprehended at Mumias Police Station awaiting prosecution.

"A few days after our daughter went missing we were surprised to see the suspect's photo on our daughter’s Facebook account. We launched an investigation and found the suspect with our daughter’s phone. He was once arrested and released for stealing and trafficking two children to Busia to sell them" said Wanga.

Odinga is now apprehended at Mumias Police Station awaiting prosecution.

Bumini acting chief Winstone Shirebo has confirmed the murder and urged the residents to remain calm as police continue with the investigation before the suspect is arraigned in court.

Cyntia Makokha's body was taken to Kakamega general and referral hospital mortuary for a postmortem.
